Dance is the language of the body, a universal and authentic form of expression. It unites rather than divide; it has no barriers or borders. That is why every year we celebrate an International Day dedicated to dance, which falls on April 29th. It is a special opportunity for us dancers to pay tribute to it, and we do so, of course, by dancing!
I believe that social dance is a wonderful phenomenon. When we dance we leave behind the difficulties of life, stress and daily problems. We dance because it makes us feel good, we have fun, we spend a pleasant evening with good company, we socialize. When we go home after an evening of dancing we all do it smiling!
Social dancing allows us to experience moments of collective joy during which we are all protagonists: it doesn’t matter the age, it doesn’t matter the skills. What matters is sharing a a moment all together.
For me, this day represents an opportunity to pay tribute to Cuban Salsa and Bachata, the two dances I practice most often.
And you, how will you celebrate this event?
