Salsa is a couple dance rich of movement, expression and improvisation. Fundamental element is the dialogue between the leader and the follower.
The term “Salsa” is actually used to describe the most popular musical genres of Cuban derivation, which blend and synthesize with great elasticity and flexibility. The evolutionary path of salsa begins in some Cuban dances including Afro dances and cuban Rumba, but the fundamental root is Son.
There are different styles of salsa dancing and the most popular one is called “Casino”, which we know and refer to simply as Cuban Salsa. Casino can be danced both in couple and in group, in this case in the form of Rueda de Casino.
From a musical point of view, the fundamental characteristic of Salsa is the presence of the Clave, which is a specific rhythm played by a percussion, composed of two sticks, which is also called Clave.
