Son

Son is the dance that most represents Cuban culture and its people.

The term Son refers to both the musical genre and the dance associated with it. It is from here that the most well-known and widely danced Cuban rhythms, including Salsa, originate.

Although its origins date back nearly a hundred years, most of today’s rhythms stem from this genre, albeit in a more modern form. From a dance perspective, its elegance is timeless.

There are two types of Son: traditional Son and Son Montuno. They are played slightly differently but danced in the same way.

The dance of Son is the fundamental root of Salsa. For this reason, dancers who delve into studying Son significantly improve their dance technique and the elegance of their movements, even in Salsa
